Nice place along a smaller but still just as fun lake. Rooms are nice, and I got the cabin on the lake - rocking motion wasn't bad at all (I'm used to it due to riding the Amtrak alot), but the creaking along the dock woke me up - not a bad thing, but the realities of lodging along a body of water. The only bad thing is the location - it's far (for me) and a freight line got me stuck, 3 miles east of the lake. Still, nice place and a great respite from the nervousness of suburban and city life of Chicago. Recommended!
Jessica and David are amazing hosts. We had our wedding on the picture perfect deck and guest rented several of the cottages on the property. It was a wedding weekend to remember!!! We have stayed here several times that I believe we’ve stayed in all of the cottages at least once. Perfect for a family reunion and get together!! It’s a perfect location!!!

WEDDING PERFECTION! We had stayed there several times over the last two years and while on our July 2021 visit we got the idea to see if we could have our wedding there because we have always had an amazing experience there. We have stayed at almost every property and love them all. I love when you're staying there you feel like it’s your own place, each place is very private. We approached host Jess with the idea and she was very excited for us and wanted to help us in any way she could to make it happen. She did too, we got married there on July 31, 2021. It was magical. We seriously couldn’t have even imagined just how amazing it was going to turn out. We wanted our guests to have an opportunity to experience this place and fall in love with it like we had along with a wedding. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate us and meant so much to us. For a period of time they blocked off dates for all the properties so guests could stay there. We did have some wedding guests stay there too and it was a beautiful time visiting with them in such a magical environment…everyone enjoyed the lake and activities. Was like a family reunion wedding. Hosts Jess and her dad worked very hard with the planning and set up making sure all went smoothly. It really did! I call it our hgtv dream wedding! And we are already booked for our one year anniversary.
Perfect getaway for you, you’re loved ones and fur babies. Had an amazing experience for mine and my boyfriends birthday weekend. From kayaking, fishing, to a 24 hr access hot tub, beautiful scenery especially in the fall, nice woodsy cabins this is a great place for you’re getaway! My only complaint is I wished I had found this place sooner.
We rented all the cottages and rooftop for our wedding weekend and rehearsal dinner! Jess, David, and all the staff at the cottages were helpful from the start! They went over and beyond to make sure we had the best time. They set up our rehearsal dinner and it was beautiful and flawless, even with the unexpected thunderstorm that struck mid rehearsal dinner. Their staff made quick moves to make sure we were all comfortable! They had everything we could need like ice, fire wood, and even smores kits to purchase for a great price. The entire weekend was amazing and we loved being lake front and enjoying all the water toys they offer. We already booked our anniversary weekend there next summer because we loved it SO much. And big plus that they are animal friendly. Thanks for everything!!
We hosted my bachelorette party at the cottages on petite lake this past weekend and had the best time! We booked with the owners (David and Jess) back in December and communication throughout the entire process was great. The booking process was easy, they answered even the smallest of questions we had, and were so great to meet in person. The Cozy Crooked Cottage was the property we stayed at and it was so cute! Perfect for our group of 8-10. The amenities on the property are also amazing - from the rooftop deck, to the kayaks, to outdoor bathrooms - everything was clean and we had such a great time. I will 100% be back next year for either another girls trip or a family vacation! Thanks David & Jess!!
